There is one place Thor wants to go every year, and that is the Palm Springs Air Museum. It's really a World War II museum, with aircraft, cars, bikes, films, books, flight simulators, occasional art exhibits, model ships, story boards, uniforms, mementos, music, and more. If you are interested in this era at all (as we are), it's worth a visit. Volunteers abound and are full of stories from the war, most having been pilots or involved in some other way, and I think they are really what make this place special.
